Consistency in the Word was a huge transformation in my life. Building a strong foundation that
we walk on, and understanding that we are in a spiritual battle and that we walk in victory over
the devil. We need to make sure that we understand when it is the enemy and that we don’t give
him any ground.
One identity to know is looking at the gospel in John 10:10 (NIV) “The thief comes only to
steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
God is not evil, and does not cause us harm. Now, He will grow us through those
challenges by giving us experience, wisdom, and knowledge. In that moment, we tap in
and dig in to find our strength is God. We have to understand where it comes from and
not give the devil any strength.
In Ephesians 6:10 (NIV) he tells us “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power.” We need to be physically, mentally, and emotionally strong, but we need to
know that God will make us better than we can ever be on our own. We need to
remember that he can multiply our giftings and make us better when we rely on His
strength.
In verse 11 He tells us to “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand
against the devil’s schemes.” Learning how to operate in His mighty power by putting on
the full armor to stand against the schemes, whiles, or tactics of the devil. Make sure
you can identify or catch it when he is plotting against you.
Verse 12 tells us “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” There are evil forces out against us as Christians,
but they are there just in general because we live in this world.
In verse 13 it says “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to
stand.” These things are happening now, and not always in the future. We worry alot
about the future, but we cannot forget the now.
Let’s break down verses 14 through 16 – “14. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth
buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with
your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to
all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows
of the evil one.” Truth is what God says, so we need to ask God what He says about this
situation. The devil will come at us with lies, you’re not good enough, your past, and
much more. We have to go back to the truth which is the Word of God, aka the Bible.
It’s not what we reason out, it is what God says to us which is speaking the truth. The
righteousness is what God gives through Jesus Christ. We will always fall short without
His righteousness. We received this because of His grace and He gave it to me as a
free gift. The devil will try to tempt us that we do not deserve God’s grace, but do not fall
for that lie, and understand that we have the blessing that God gave us in our heart. Be
ready to share the gospel of peace with others of how you’ve experienced God’s love.
The shield of faith will protect us from all the things the devil throws at us such as our
limits, our weaknesses, our past, and more lies. Now if it is sin, bad thoughts, or
something like that, go to John 1:9 and confess it. Give it to God and put it behind you.
If you seek the Lord and pray about a situation the devil will come at you saying nothing
can change, but God will give you the strength and provide you. You have to settle that,
and stand on the truth of the word with the shield of faith. We do what God says in His
faith.
The sword of the spirit which is the word of God is the only offensive weapon, or true
weapon. We take out the devil or his schemes when we speak the word, and as we
speak we make that sword do what God has said to do. We need to make sure we carry
out our declarations that we make according to the word of God in our prayer time, in
the times of our confession, and in the times of our conversations. “Keep your saying in
line with your praying.” We don’t want to stop out or retract what we say in prayer.
Remember what God says, and carry it.
In regards to the sword of the spirit of the word of God – know the authority that you’ve
been given by Jesus through His word. When we begin to pray we begin to speak in
Jesus Name against those spirits. He gave us the authority to speak in Jesus Name
against the devil in the way he is trying to attack you. You can tell the devil no to those
spiritual forces he’s trying to get you to fear, doubt, or lose sleep over.
This is the area that we want to continue to grow in. We have received the helper, the
Holy Spirit, as born again believers. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit, and to give
you everything He’s got for you. You want to tap into everything that the Lord has for
you, and not for any selfish reason, but just so you can mine out, tap in to, and receive
every truth, blessing, and benefit that God supplies.
As you go through your day today, expect God to reveal areas that the devil is trying to
steal from you.
